HOW TO CLEAN LCD, LED OR PLASMA TV SCREENS
LCD -liquid crystal display is a flat panel display that makes use of light modulating properties of liquid crystals. LCD TVs screens are made up two layers of a glass-like material which are polarized and are “glued” together. Light originates from an external source such as fluorescent or red-light bulbs.
LCDs are very this and this makes it possible for them to be hung on walls or to be placed on a small stand on a raised platform.
Their technology is resolution agnostic. This means that the LCDs can display a wide range of displays ranging from 480p to 8k and even higher depending on the customers’ needs and demands.
An LED is a semiconductor which emits visible light when an electric current pass through it. The light is monochromatic-occurring in a single wavelength.in comparison with fluorescent lights, LCDs are more power saving and they efficiently convert power to light so that less power is lost in the form of heat. In addition, there is minimal light leakage that can cause fuzziness.
There are three different kinds of LEDs technologies namely: The edge-lit LED, the dynamic RGB LED and the full-array LED. The most common of the three is edge-lit LED. Here, the white LEDs are located around the edge of the screen and a diffusion panel is used to lighten the display evenly. Generally, LED TVs are more expensive than the plasma or other LCD TVs
In Plasma TVs, the display technology is unique. Each pixel on the screen is illuminated by a small amount of the “charged gas” which is enclosed within two thin sheets of glass. Generally, plasma TVs tend to offer better dark-room view and wider viewing angles as compared to LCD displays. Their sizes range from 37 inches to 100 inches or more (measured diagonally).
Plasma TVs are a bit heavier and consume more power than LCD TVs. In addition, the glass screen can reflect light unless treated.
Just like other electronics, televisions attract dust as well and may get spoilt with blemishes such as children’s fingerprints. luckily, cleaning a television is an easy and straight forward process which doesn’t require any special equipment or chemicals.

LCD TVs are sensitive and they should be cleaned more carefully to avoid creating scratches and damaging the screen. Plasma TVs screens contain a delicate antiglare coating and they should therefore be treated like LCD sets rather than CRTV sets.

Optimal brightness-Setting the brightness level of your screen to maximum may reduce the lifespan of your tv set and it is therefore not advisable. In addition, too much brightness may cause eye strain.
Appropriate use of contrast-High contrast settings minimizes the lifespan of your computer. The picture quality of a tv screen set to high contrast decreases with time since more processing power is used. It is therefore advisable to keep varying the contrast levels.
Space- Generally, the tv screens generate a lot of heat because of the quantity of electricity used. It is therefore advisable to keep the tv set in a decent space which is humidity-free so as to minimize the chances of its internal circuit from overheating. Furthermore, excess heat is the enemy of nearly all electrical devices.
Sharp objects-Sharp objects can easily damage the screen. LCD screens are much thinner and they are specially designed using flexible plastics and they may result to permanent damage in case they come into contact with sharp objects. It is therefore advisable to keep such objects away as much as possible so as to even minimize the chances of children tampering with the screen using the sharp objects.
Clean your tv screen frequently- With time, dirt and dust accumulate on the screen thus affecting visibility.it is advisable to use anti-static electricity cleansers instead of water. Dust that has settled inside the tv set may cause the television set to respond slowly and it should be removed using an electronic vacuum meant for household items
Prevent Burn-ins- You may avoid using the TV for longer periods since images that stay for longer than others will start having burn-ins. Plasma TVs are more vulnerable.
Avoid low temperatures-Extremely low temperatures leads to condensation which can get into the critical parts of the TV.it is therefore recommended not to turn on the television set during low temperatures to avoid damage.
HOW TO CLEAN LCD, LED or PLASM TV screen
Turn off your TV and unplug it from the power supply.
Use a dry, lint-free cloth such as microfiber cloth with a commercial cleaning solution to gently wipe the hard spots off the screen.
Avoid pressing the screen harder when dealing with “stubborn” spots. This may cause the pixels to burn out.
Your tv may have come with a cleaning cloth. So, check the box before purchasing one.
Wipe away any moisture from the screen using a dry microfiber cloth.
Plug in the TV after all the moisture has evaporated.

Things to avoid
- Avoid spraying anything on your TV screen or cabinet since it can run inside the monitor and cause damage.
- Never use water to clean the TV unless instructed by the manufacturer
- Never use cleaners with the following agents since they may damage the coating on the tv screen:
- Paint thinner
- Ethyl chloride
They may cause the screen to turn yellow especially for the LCD TVs which are made up of flexible plastic which is very sensitive to chemicals.
